A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
